Simon Says: Anything Goes

Hello!  Today I'm going to share two cards I made for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  This week's challenge is "Anything Goes"...so I decided to go with a Fall theme.

For the first card, I used an impression plate for the background, and then blended some Distress Oxide inks onto a die cut circle (partially altered) to create the sunrise.  The scarecrow and  "Happy Harvest" are all from Wplus9.

Stamps:  Wplus9 (Happy Harvest)
Die Cuts:  Wplus9 (Happy Harvest)
Etc:  Papertrey Ink Impression Plate (Linen & Canvas)

The next card was made with the stamp and die set, "Hello Pumpkin" from Neat & Tangled's  STAMPtember limited edition set from Simon Says Stamp! - I used this set for the last card I posted, and honestly, I find myself wanting to use this all the time...it's soooo cute!

CAS(E) this Sketch #245

Oh my gosh! - the last "CAS(E) this Sketch" I did was #6!  Where did the time go?!
Today's card is for "CAS(E) this Sketch #245".

I created the background by blending a few Distress Oxide inks, used die cuts for the circles, and really, really cute stamps (and coordinating dies) from Neat & Tangled's limited edition STAMPtember's "Hello Pumpkin" set from Simon Says Stamp!.  This is my first set from Neat & Tangled and I'm in love.

Using Non-Holiday Stamps for a Holiday Card

Hello there!  I have one last homework assignment to share from Online Card Classes - Merry Making.  This one is for Day 3, which was focused on using non-holiday stamps on holiday cards.

I made the wreath by using gold ink and stamping leaves in a circular shape.  I had a hard time finding a red ink that was vibrant enough for the black cardstock, so I made my own glossy rose gold cardstock to die cut the flowers from. Add some embellishments, a banner, and voila - I've got myself a holiday card!

Stamps:  Wplus9 (Fresh Cut Florals), Papertrey Ink (Stylish Sentiments: Holiday)
Die Cuts:  Wplus9 (Fresh Cut Florals), Simon Says Stamps! (Folded Banner)
Embellishments: Pretty Pink Posh

Snowmen Season's Greetings

Hi!  Today I'm sharing my homework from Day 5 of Online Card Classes - Merry Making.  Day 5 was focused on Holiday Watercolor, and after several failed attempts (the vision in my head just didn't translate well on paper 😕), I ended up using Distress Oxide inks to watercolor with and practiced my masking skills with post-its...oh well, I'll keep working on the other technique - at least I'm having fun trying.

Hugs and Snuggles

Hello!  Today I'm sharing a modified technique of Shari Carroll's Paint Resist technique shared on Day 2 of Online Card Classes - Merry Making.  I didn't have any paint on hand, so I improvised by selectively white embossing white cardstock, then smearing the paper first over water down Peacock Feather Distress Oxide ink, and then lightly over Twisted Citron.  I've used Distress Oxide over an embossed image before, but not like this.  I'm definitely going to try this again, I liked how the embossed print added a subtle effect to the background.

Peace-Love-Joy

I'm back sharing another card, utilizing a die cutting technique from Day 4 of Online Card Classes - Merry Making.  I decided to keep it simple and use lighter colors for this holiday card.  The "LOVE" was raised by die cutting it out several times, then layering the letters.  Tip...don't forget to stamp the sentiment before die-cutting...I forgot, hence the little smudge. 😏

Merry Making: Day 1 - Holiday Backgrounds!

I'm very excited to be signed up for the latest Online Card Classes, "Merry Making".  Yesterday was Day 1, which focused on backgrounds.  I loved all the techniques, but decided to try the one shared by Kristina Werner first, which creates a bokeh effect.  I finished the card off by adding some Wink of Stella, Glossy Accents, and although it's hard to tell, I embossed the sentiment with Hero Art's Black Sparkle embossing powder.  Can't wait to try out the "Snow Flurry" technique - looks like fun!

Happy World Card Making Day 2017!

Hip Hip Hooray - Happy World Card Making Day!

In honor of today, I will be sharing two cards.  For the first card I created the background using several colors of  Distress Oxide inks, and then created a framed-in border to highlight some of the cutest stamps ever from Mama Elephant.

Stamps:  Mama Elephant (Little Dog Agenda), Paper Smooches (Sentiment Sampler)
Die Cuts:  Mama Elephant (Peek A Frame)

For the second card, I utilized the same concept used for the first one (I can't get enough of these cute little dogs!), but changed up the background colors and the frame.

Stamps:  Mama Elephant (Little Dog Agenda, Mini Messages)
Die Cuts:  Mama Elephant (Peek A Frame)

Enjoy the day, make some cards, and share some kindness. 😊💓

Has it really been 5 years?!

Wow! I can't believe it's been almost 5 years since I last updated this blog.
What's ironic is that I read my very first post from 2010, and I wrote that I got into card making, because I wanted to find a project that my son and I can do together, that would teach him how to show kindness to others. Fast forward 7 years, and the exact same reason that pulled me in years ago, has done it again, but with me wanting to show my daughter how to share kindness with others.  We recently made and sent over 100 cards for hospitalized kids, and it is because of her, I have found my passion again for making cards.

Without further ado, here is the first card I'm posting in almost 5 years...

Stamps:  Papertrey Ink (Happy Trails)
Die Cuts:  Mama Elephant (Tri Window Cover), Papertrey Ink (Happy Trails)

I created the background using Distress Oxide Inks.  The border and "HUGS" are from Mama Elephant and the fireflies are from Papertrey Ink (it's an oldie, but a goodie ☺).
