Mojo144 & Wplus9 Color Cue {5} Challenge

Today is going to be a quick post..I'm exhausted - just came back from kayaking and having lunch on the beach (I know, tough life huh?!).  So....because my arms feel like they're about to fall off, I'll keep this short.  I have two cards to share today.  I made both cards for this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  The first I wasn't too keen about, so I decided to use the colors from Wplus9 color cue challenge, and try the Mojo sketch one more time.  I like the second one much more.  Both are for my daughter's preschool teachers.  She is moving up a class tomorrow, and I wanted to make them a card and let them know how special the two of them are.  We are truly fortunate to have had two amazing individuals watch over our daughter during her first year in preschool.

Live well,
Trina

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to those who bring so much love and joy to our lives!

The first card today is one I made for my kids to give to my dad.  This week's CAS challenge at Splitcoaststampers was "Things That Fly".  I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to use PTI's "Fly Away" set. I like how versatile the banner is...there's several sentiments that are included in the set, or you can opt to write you own like I did.

And here's this week's Mojo Monday challenge.  I really liked this sketch - it evoked a lot of ideas out of me which I hope I can translate into an actual card.  Have you ever had those ideas/images in your head...ya know, the ones that seems like "the" perfect design, but when you try bring those ideas to life, it's not anything like you imagine...yeah, me too.  Hopefully, all these ideas I have will come out exactly as I picture it.

Before I sign off, I thought I share a little poem in honor of Father's Day...

"Life Lessons "
You may have thought I didn’t see, or that I hadn’t heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me, but I got every word.
Perhaps you thought I missed it all, and that we’d grow apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything, it’s written on my heart.
Without you, Dad, I wouldn’t be the person I am today;
You built a strong foundation, no one can take away.
I’ve grown up with your values, and I’m very glad I did;
So here’s to you, dear father, from your forever grateful kid.

Mojo Monday 142

I can' believe how fast this weekend went...and you know what...remember how I mentioned "June Gloom" yesterday - well, it ended up being a beautiful day.  I took the kids to the Children's Museum, which is the BEST!  We're so lucky to have this amazing museum in our backyard, in fact it was the winner of the 2009 Nickelodeon's Parents' Picks Award for "Best Museum".  Both kids had a great time, and are begging for me to take them back next weekend.  I also got some good crafting time in.  My little one took a nice, long nap which allowed me to work on this week's Mojo Monday's sketch, and then some...it was total bliss.

Here's this week's sketch:
And here's my card (MOJO142):

And here's another version of the card. I know, another baby card - what can I say...everyone around me is having a baby (sorry for the poor lighting).

I also decided to try Splitcoasts's CAS (Clean and Simple) challenge this week.  The challenge was to include one of your favorite quote, verse, or saying into the design.  I love this quote, and decided to make this for a dear friend who is recovering from back surgery.

And yet another card...it's amazing what can be accomplished when I get some "me" time in.
This one was made for my son's teacher who loves frogs.  Inside I included a CD of pictures I took of all the kids during open house.  They were all dressed as historical Californians, and did a great job as living statues coming to life, giving a brief story about their lives.  They kids did a remarkable job!

That's it for me.  I am now going to wait anxiously for the next preview posting from Papertrey Ink...I love the 15th of every month.  That's when they release all their new products....I feel like a kid waiting for the holiday Kids R Us toy catalog to come out.

Live well,

You're a Super Teacher

Hello there!  Wow - I can't believe that another school year is over.  It feels like every year seems to go faster than the last.  I'm very proud of my son - he worked hard, and put a lot of effort into all of his school projects, and for that he was awarded Honor Roll...woot woot!  But what I really enjoyed the most this year was my 4th grader talking about how much fun he was having in school.  He was very fortunate to have not one, but two great teachers this year - I thank them both for making learning fun and exciting for him!
Okay...with that said, here's the card I made for my son to give to his teacher.

Okay friends, it's time for me to figure out what me and the kiddies will do today.  I can't believe the weather - last week was a nice, warm sunny Southern CA weekend, and this weekend is June gloom....hmmm...children's museum? movies? aquarium? What will we do?

Splitcoast Stampers Card Sketch Challenge 282

Hello - I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing weekend.  I did the all American thing...went to a baseball game (Go Padres!), and BBQ'd

Here's my card for SC282.  My hubby needed a "Thank You" card for a golf tournament he played in, and I just so happened to have the perfect stamp (like I wouldn't?!).

That's it for today - will be back with more soon.
