CTS#6

Here's this week's CTS challenge, and my card...
I decided to keep it very clean looking by using all white, with the exception of the grey text background and sentiment.  The focal point is vellum, with a white heat embossed image, which has been framed and raised, so that you can ever so slightly see the text boarder peeking underneath.
Stamps:  PTI (Background Basics Text Style, Harvest Berries,
Peaceful Garden, Botanical Silhouettes)
Here's a peek of the inside...

Peace

Hello there!!  Today's card combines two challenges; CTS#5 and CFC78.  I must admit, I was totally stuck on this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge - for some reason, I just didn't feel the creative juices flowing for something "torn" (in fact I scrapped my first attempt).  Here's what I finally came up with...

Stamp:  Papertrey Ink (Snowflake Serenade)

I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder, then went over it with Peeled Paint and Broken China distress inks, tore some paper, and added rhinestones...very easy and very fast to make...I like!

RIC#23

Sharing two cards with you today - here's my first card, which is for this week's Runway Inspired Challenge...

I'm so in love with the shoes - but who could see them, with that oversized purse...watch out when you put your purse down, it may roll away...hehehe.
Stamps:  Paper Smooches (Swanky Snowdudes, My Peeps)

The next card is for Day 7 of Holiday Card Workshop.  I tried to use Jennifer McGuire's technique of Inner Masking, but I just couldn't get it clean enough...tried several times, then gave up.  I truly think in order to get a clean embossed image, I'll need Eclipse Masking Sheets, post-its just ain't doing it.  So, I decided to follow Kristina Werner's lead, and play with my Distress Inks, and work with a "reverse" stamp...
Stamps:  Papertrey Ink (Holiday Lights, Snowflake Serenade)
I stamped the image with Tuxedo Black, then used Ranger Peeled Paint and Broken China Distress Inks.  I then stamped snowflakes over it in white, and heat embossed it with a kaleidoscope embossing powder, which gave it a glittery shimmer.

CFC77

As promised, back for one more post today - this one also incorporates what was discussed in today's Holiday Card Workshop, with this week's CAS-UAL Fridays Challenge, which is to create a clean and simple masculine project.

For this challenge, my card may not be the typical masculine card, but still, I thought as a holiday card, it could easily be given to a male coworker, or maybe our mail courier.  As for how it fits with today's workshop topic...I mixed a traditional holiday stamp, with a non-holiday stamp (the airplane).  Honestly, this is why I take these classes...to open my eyes, and learn how to use all my stuff more effectively, and creatively.

I would never have thought to put these two stamp sets together, but as soon as I laid my eyes on the plane, I knew what to do.  I love how the Christmas lights are being pulled by the plane.

CAS(E) this Sketch! Challenge #4

Hi - will be doing a couple short posts today, the first for CAS(E) this Sketch! Challenge #4.

Aren't these snow dudes cute?! I love this set from Paper Smooches - I made another card with one of them having a mustache (too cue!)...will try to share that one later.  Was trying to use nontraditional colors for this holiday card...which was the topic of discussion in yesterday's bonus class for the Holiday Card Workshop I'm participating in.  I like how the pastels against the dark background really make the snow dudes pop.

Learned so much from the last workshop, that I decided to take another class...

These were fun and quick, and because they are only 3"x3", got to use up some scraps (which has taken over my desk).

My First Christmas Cards of the Year

I cannot believe that I actually made two Christmas Cards today - usually I'm scrambling around, frazzled with only seconds left, trying to get cards made.  Not this year...I made a vow to myself that I would try to get as much Christmas stuff done by the end of November (this includes the shopping as well), so that I can actually enjoy what's happening around me...wish me luck :-)

The first card is for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge:

And here's one more - I combined this week's Runway Inspired Challenge and CAS-ual Fridays Challenge.

And here's one more card that  I made for a sweet little girl turning five (and I can't believe I didn't use one single stamp!).  It doesn't show up very well in the pic, but I made the "5" extra glittery for the little princess, using a kaleidoscope embossing powder (it reflects different colors when looking at it from different angles).

CFC72 and RS#31

Hi y'all - back today with two cards from two different challenges.
The first card is for CAS-ual Fridays, with this week's challenge having to do with using our own blog as our inspiration.

A little color blocking, heat embossing, and viola, we got ourselves a nice, clean, elegant card - can't get easier than that.
The next card is for Retro Sketches.  I decided to turn the card around and make it into a portrait layout, and try to use some scraps, which has taken over my craft studio (I think they multiply while I'm sleeping..hehehe).

Live well,
Trina

Challenges

Day 7 and 8 of Kick Start is about challenging yourself...so today's card is based on a sketch challenge, and a photo I saw in a Crate and Barrel catalog.  I picked this color combo, because it's outside my comfort zone.  The background was made using PTI's Botanical Silhouettes - don't usually go bright and bold, but I think it works for this card.

Here's the sketch...

Here's my color inspiration...

And here's my card (sorry about the bad lighting)...

Kick Start Online Card Class

Hi everyone - I'm back with a card to share based on my learnings from an online card class I'm currently taking, hosted by Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire.  It's called "Kick Start" - it's great source to learn how to "kick start" your creativity (click on the link below for more info).

For this card, I wanted to use some scraps (which I'm learning how to bundle together for future use), something I forgotten I had (this means cleaning up a bit to rediscover these), and something new that I haven't used yet...and here's what I came up with...
I used some scraps, washi tape I had forgotten about, and a new die.  I must say,  it felt good to be able to use all, especially scraps that I tend to let pile up. I never thought to spend the time to organize my scraps to have groupings to use for a future cards (thanks Jennifer for that great tip!).

CFC70

Got a BIG shipment from PTI, and another on the way....it feels real good to get back into the swing of things.  Today's card is for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenged (CFC70), which was to use black and white, plus one color of our choice.

I love this stamp and die, you can make a fabulous and fun card so easily.  I forgot to take a picture of the insert - when you pull on the slide, there's a little message waiting for the receiver...how cute is that?!
