how tweet of you

Got my new Paper Smooches stamps, "My Peeps"....hooray!  If you get a chance, go check out this set...too cute!  Here's my first card using this set...
And now to this week's challenges.  A Halloween card using my "Boris" stamp, which I adore to bits, and goes well with the flasks from the "Halloweenie" set from Paper Smooches.
Here's this weeks Play Date Cafe's challenge
I love how the heat embossed ginkgo leaves turned out, unfortunately it does not show as well in this photo...

And, I can't believe it, I've actually made a Christmas card in October...this has never happened before - usually, I'm scrabbling around in December, trying to make tons of last minute cards for friends.  I would like to think, this will continue...I doubt it :-)  Here's this week's CASE Study card by Nikki Estes, along with my interpretation.  Again, the photo doesn't show it well, but I tired to imitate the textile on her card by using  I my PTI Linen impression plate and rouging up the edges.

Live well,

Operation Julie's Smile

Hey peeps...hope you had a fabulous weekend - mine definitely was...kinda hard not to when you have wonderful southern California weather to work with.  I have three cards to share today.  This week's challenges at The Play Date Cafe and CAS-ual Fridays are very special.  Please visit these sites to help support a fellow crafter, Julie Ranae and Operation Julie's Smile.  I think one of the greatest benefits to crafting is the support you get from your fellow crafters...there's nothing like it, and I feel very fortunate to be a part of this community.

A couple of cards, and a tag

Hey's a couple items I made for this week's challenges, plus one extra...a card for a friend's little boy who is turning three...enjoy.

This week's CAS-ual Fridays' challenge is to use three shades of a monochromatic color, plus brown.
My card...

Here's this week's Play Date Cafe's challenge...
Thought I would change it up a bit, and make a tag...actually, to tell you the
truth, the card didn't quite turn out as I had envisioned, so the tag is the remains of the card that went bad...hehehe.

And as promised, one last card for a little boy's third birthday...

Challenges Galore

Busy, busy, busy today.  The weekends are usually the only time I get to craft, so here's what I've been working on today...

My first challenge to share is for this week's CAS-ual Fridays Challenge (CFC20).  This week's requirement was to make a mini card no larger than 4"x4"...mine ended up being 3"x4".
I thought this picture showed PTI's impression plate a little better.  For the pineapple body, I first tapped on yellow, followed by orange, and then very lightly with brown, which came through more than I wanted...oh well, I guess it's a very ripe pineapple...hehehe.

Next, we have a card for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge (PDCC99)...
I just found out that my best friend (since 5th grade!) is pregnant, so I thought I would make a cute and fun card for her.  In case you were wondering, I used metal dots for the headlights...couldn't decide to use these, or glossy accent.

And one last one for the's this week's CASE Study (CSC57) - a card by Julie Lacey, and my ode to Halloween...

That's all folks...hope you have a wonderful week.

Very quick and easy card...I paper pieced the pumpkin with Damask patterned paper from PTI, colored the stem and leaf, stamped the sentiment, and spider, and voila...easy peasy.

In L-O-V-E with Paper Smooches!

"Courage is the price that Life exacts for granting peace."
-Amelia Earhart

On this Patriot Day, I honor those who demonstrated great courage on September 11th, 2001, I honor those who continue to demonstrate courage by living without their love ones, and I honor those who defend our country with great courage.

And now for the challenges...
As you're going to see from today's post, that I've recently got a new shipment of stamps from Paper Smooches, and I am so in love with them!  This one was made for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge, which is to incorporate and a Fall theme and paper piecing.

And for our next challenge, may I present to you...
And here's my card, once again using a Paper Smooches stamp (how stinkin' cute is this monster?!)...

Black, White, Red, and One Day

Today's card combines The Play Date Cafe's {PDCC97} and CAS-ual Fridays' {CFC18}challenge, which both happens to be quite similar this week, with one exception...the CAS-ual Fridays challenge is in honor of International Literacy Day on September 8th.  This means that our project had to be inspired by a book.  My inspiration was a book by David Nicholls, "One Day", which I just found out they've made into a movie (hope they keep it true to the book).

Cover Image
An oldie, but of my first stamps purchases, and I still love it.  Originally, the only red on the card was the heart up in the corner, but decided to add some color to the skirt with a little paper piercing.

Live well,

Card Recipe:  Bliss
Stamps:  Kissing Couple (A Muse); Framed (Papertrey Ink)
Paper:  True Black, White, Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink)

Make iI Monday #30: Colored Pencils

Make It Monday logo
I decided to try the technique highlighted by Jennifer Ellefson for this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday.  I've never blended my colored pencil creations with baby oil reminded me of using watercolor pencils.  Needless to say, I tried it, had fun, but I think next time, I'll try it using a paper stump like Jennifer.  I think that may give me the control I want, of the amount of oil absorbed, and transferred to the paper, as well allowing me to better define my blending.  I WILL be doing this again!
Live well,

Butterfly Kisses

I usually don't try to combine challenges together, but while finishing up the Play Date Cafe challenge (which I love, love, love, this week), I happened to look down at the sticker I was going to use for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge, and then it hit me...Butterfly Kisses.
I also think this card is perfect for this week's CASE Study challenge, which is a "no restrictions" week...the only requirement..."do what you love most... pull out your favourite supplies and make something that says YOU!!"...which is exactly what I did, with an embossed white background, and simple and clean embellishments.

Sorry, I really got to learn how to photograph a white embossed background better.  You can see a better view on this one...
I really like how the butterflies look stamped with VersaMark Dazzle. If you haven't try the Dazzle version, it's like the regular VersaMark, but it has a beautiful shimmer to it.

Live well,

Card Recipe:  Butterfly Kisses
Stamps:  Snowflake Serenade,  A Little Argyle, Text Style (Papertrey Ink)
Paper:  Aqua Mist, Lemon Tart, Melon Berry, White (Papertrey Ink)
